British Racing Green is not one colour. It is a family of them, argued over by people with strong opinions and imperfect memories, and the version that matters here is the one on the bonnet of a 1980 Morgan 4/4 that lives in the barn.
When the estate needed a colour, nobody proposed a palette. The paint chip was already on the property, under a dust sheet, and it settled the question in an afternoon.
Harvest gold came second, from the hops and the late-summer meadow, and it earns its place by being used sparingly: a rule, a letter, a badge on a price. Green does the work. Gold does the punctuation.
